TORONTO -- Former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre says his knee surgery went well and the rehab that looms ahead wont impact his decision on whether to return to mixed martial arts competition. Cheap Air Max 270 . The 32-year-old Montreal fighters left knee was operated on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He had reconstructive surgery on the other knee in December 2011. "I climbed Everest once before and Im going to climb it again -- if I want to," St-Pierre told The Canadian Press on Thursday. "Its not a problem for me. . . . Anyway I didnt plan to come back to competition before 2015. "And if I want to come back, when I want to come back, Ill do it again. Ill have all the tools to do it again. Im not going to be less strong or less athletic -- Im going to be just better." "Ill have two bionic knees," he added. St-Pierre (25-2) vacated his 170-pound title in December, saying he needed a break from the sport. He made the announcement just weeks after winning a controversial split decision over Johny (Big Rigg) Hendricks at UFC 167. St-Pierre kept training and tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a recent workout. He was wrestling "a kid" and believes his knee caught in a mat and twisted. "It was like someone hurt his back by tying up his shoes." Both knee operations were done by Los Angeles-based surgeon Neal ElAttrache, who looked after NFL star Tom Bradys knee in 2009. "I believe hes the best in the world," said the fighter. St-Pierre plans to spend the next three months rehabbing in Los Angeles, using the same team as he did for the last operation. While he is on painkillers in the immediate wake of the surgery, he said he was in good spirits. "Perfect timing for me that I get hurt right now," he said. "Thats the way to look at it." He expects to resume training in five months, with full sparring in six to seven months. St-Pierre fought 11 months after his first surgery, defeating Carlos (The Natural Born Killer) Condit at UFC 154 in November 2012. His experiences after the first knee surgery will help him, he said. "I know the way now. Its going to be even better. But the thing is you cant go faster than your body heals. I dont want to go too fast." He said the ACL damage in both knees was the same. The former champion believes the damage to his knees was bound to happen, given the pounding the ligaments have taken over the years. "Its like a rope. If you pull the rope every day as hard as you can -- boom, boom, you pull it, pull it, pull it, pull it -- one day its going to break. Its the force of pressure. If you hit a wall at home in the same spot every day when you pass by, at one point youre going to make a hole in it. "And thats what happened with my ACL. Ive been training martial arts since I was nine years old and Im a very explosive guy." He plans to add an expert in the science of mobility to his entourage, to correct his movements -- from running to jumping. "Its never going to happen again," he said. "The pressure will be on my bone and my muscle, not on my ligaments." St-Pierre says he has been told that the vast majority of ACL injuries are preventable. "They happen over the course of time because people do the wrong moves," he said. If or when St-Pierre comes back to the UFC, he will do so as a welterweight. He noted Hendricks, who went on to win the 170-pound title, weighed 215 pounds when the two did their press tour. GSP was 190 pounds. He also reiterated that drug testing in the sport had to improve before he came back. "Its not personal to one fighter," he said. "Its personal to me. Its something that has to be done, I believe." On Thursday, they signed former Browns linebacker DQwell Jackson. Terms of the deal were not immediately available. https://www.wholesalenikeairmaxshoes.com/ . -- Two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana agreed Tuesday to a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles as he tries to come back from the second major operation on his left shoulder.(SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Capitals hope to avoid their longest losing streak of the season when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Wednesdays Metropolitan Division battle at Verizon Center. The Capitals have dropped four in a row (0-3-1) and were handed a 4-3 regulation loss in Columbus on Tuesday night. Washingtons longest skid of 2014-15 came during an 0-4-1 stretch from Oct. 26-Nov. 2. Despite its current funk, the Capitals are currently tied with Boston for the Eastern Conferences two wild card spots and the clubs are seven points in front of Florida for that distinction. Washington also sits one point in back of the New York Rangers for third place in the Metro and is five behind second-place Pittsburgh. The Penguins entered the All-Star break on a four-game skid of their own but halted the slide with Tuesdays 5-3 home win over Winnipeg. The Capitals lost their fourth straight road game on Tuesday, but hope to get back on track at home, where they own a 12-5-5 mark this season. After a scoreless first period Tuesday in Columbus, Washington and the Blue Jackets combined for five goals in the second. However, Columbus grabbed a 2-0 lead in the stanza and never allowed the Capitals to even the score after that. Evgeny Kuznetsov had a goal and an assist in the loss, while Troy Brouwer and Andre Burakovsky also scored for the Capitals. Braden Holtby allowed all four goals on 30 shots. We just let them take the game to us in the second and third, said Burakovsky. They took advantage of it so thats something we have to work on. Its unclear if Holtby will start again tonight or if Justin Peters will give Washingtons workhorse goaltender a rare breather. Holtby, who has started 40 games for the Caps this season, doesnt have good career numbers against the Penguins, going 1-4-0 with a 3.40 goals against average in this matchup. Peters is 2-4-2 with a 4.18 GAA in eight career outings versus Pittsburgh. The Penguins picked up their first win since Jan. 13 last night, and did so without the help off either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin. Nike Air Max Sale. Patric Hornqvist did return to the lineup for Pittsburgh and scored the game- winning goal during the third period to help the Pens record the 5-3 win over the Jets. Hornqvist, who missed 11 games due to a lower-body injury, finished with two goals. Kris Letang also came back for Pittsburgh after sitting out the final game prior to the All-Star break with a concussion and tallied a career-high five assists. He became the second Penguins defenseman to record at least five helpers in a game. Ron Stackhouse tallied six on March 8, 1975 We know we dont have the skill that we usually carry with Sid and Geno, but guys played a strong game, a smart game, Letang said. We held the puck behind their D. Thats what we tried to exploit and we didnt take any risky chances. David Perron had a goal and an assist and Steve Downie and Nick Spaling also scored for the Penguins, who are three points behind the New York Islanders for first place in the division. Backup netminder Thomas Greiss made 19 saves in Tuesdays win. Marc-Andre Fleury will start in net tonight for the Pens. He boasts a 16-8-2 record and 2.44 GAA in 27 career outings against Washington. Crosby and Malkin are expected to be game-time decisions for the Penguins tonight with lower-body injuries. Both players skipped All-Star weekend to rest their ailments. In other news, after Tuesdays game the Penguins announced they had swapped veteran centers with St. Louis, sending Marcel Goc to the Blues in exchange for Maxim Lapierre. Lapierre has two goals and seven assists in 45 games this season. Goc has two goals and four assists in 43 games. Tonights test marks the second of four regular-season meetings between the Caps and Pens in 2014-15. Washington posted a 3-0 road win on Dec. 27 to halt an eight-game slide in this series. It was Washingtons first win over the Penguins since a 1-0 home victory on Jan. 11, 2012, but the Caps enter tonight having lost three in a row to Pittsburgh in D.C. ' ' '
