Holt previously played for current Villa manager Paul Lambert while the two were at Norwich City, and after Lambert lost forward Libor Kozak to a broken leg in training, Lambert didnt hesitate to inquire about Holt. "When I knew Grant had become available it was something I wanted to pursue quickly because hell add strength and experience to what is still a young squad overall," Lambert said. "Having worked with him for three years at Norwich, I know what he can do and thats important." The 32-year-old Holt moved to Wigan from Norwich this past summer, but he has struggled to find top form with the Latics, netting only two goals in 16 appearances for the Championship side. Holt tallied 15 goals for the Canaries in the teams first season back in the top flight in 2011-12, but that total dipped to eight goals last season, leading to a move to Wigan over the summer.
