Richard Mille presents the RM 47 Tourbillon – The Age of the Samurai Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille presents the RM 47 tourbillon movement, all inspired by the warrior, his spirituality and the values of the bushido code.
Nearly four years in the making, these impeccably crafted watches feature an extremely compact movement that's been engineered to make room for the stylized, handcrafted samurai armor. The armor was hand-carved by engraver Pierre-Alain Lozeron and painted by his wife Valérie Lozeron.
The idea for the model was the brainchild of Richard Mille and Formula 1 star and brand partner Fernando Alonso, a passionate samurai lover and traditional Japanese art fans.
Many Japanese-inspired details are evident in the watch, such as the crown in titanium, Carbon TPT® and polished 3N gold. It also features the Japanese maple leaf, which symbolizes seasons, grace, beauty and the speed of life.
To obtain all 11 parts of Samurai in the RM 47 Tourbillon, the watchmakers spent 16 hours engraving and 9 hours painting. The watch has a case with a 3N yellow gold strap and a black TZP ceramic case back.
The RM 47 Tourbillon is astounding with its extraordinary and unique aesthetic, while also representing the brand's respect for tradition and determination for perfection.
